Acil Servise Demir Zehirlenmesi İle Başvuran Çocuk Vakalarının Değerlendirilmesi

Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to contribute the data on childhood iron intoxication in our country due retrospective evaluation of demographic, epidemiological, clinical features, treatments, and complications patients who applied for after oral intake.
 Materials Methods: Patients admitted a Pediatric Emergency Service Faculty Medicine diagnosed with between 2018 2020 were retrospectively investigated. The patients' demographic characteristics, information about intoxication, laboratory results recorded, statistical analyzes performed.
 Results: Of 12 included 66.7% female, 33.3% male. mean age 81.3±83.52 months. When separated by group, 66.6% younger than 5-year-old. Those came hospital via an ambulance only 25%. All transported within average 40±15 minutes. While there no life-threatening risk 7 patients, condition 5 severe. Only 2 took suicide. cases received orally. 1 patient presented abdominal pain, nausea vomiting. Activated charcoal administered 4 patients. follow-ups all results, excluding iron, normal. addition, blood gases at time admission compensated metabolic syndrome.
 Conclusion: As pediatric emergency, Iron children remains important as one preventable morbidity mortality causes. We believe that preparations are packaged single-dose form do not have attractive taste appearance children, protective caps medicine boxes, when physicians prescribe drugs adult warning them toxicity will reduce morbidity.
